We just purchased a 6 mo old springer spaniel. She apparently was abused by a 16 year old male every morning. We did not know this when we got her.

Maggie the springer is like a shadow to me. To my husband however she is in total fear. She runs and hides and paces back and forth waiting for him to hurt her.

My husband has done everything right… he bends down to her size, feeds her, gives her treats… but she will not be with him alone. She walks with both of us but has no trust with my husband.

She has a coward look at some men and I just don’t know what to do. If I take a leash and stand by my husband, she is fine. As soon as it is off she flies back to her protective area on the floor by the couch.

She sleeps in bed with both of us and is fine and playful but as soon as my husband wakes and gets up she is in a panic.

What else can I do?????? My husband and I have had Springers and this one is hard to help get over her fear.
