Our dog Toby was 10 years old when he was diagnosed with diabetes. He had always been an extremely energetic, playful little dog (of many breeds) never overweight.

Toby’s unwellness began to be noticeable when he was constantly chewing his feet often until the pads and between the pads bled. Numerous vet visits and treatments, but no relief. He then started to lose weight, quite rapidly. He didn’t have as much energy, and sometimes even refused to go for a walk (unheard of for him).

In a matter of a few days, he went downhill rapidly. We were waiting for the results of blood tests. The result came back that he was almost at the stage of coma, and he passed away the following day.

It was all very fast, and very sad. Hope other dogs have a more successful outcome from this disease.
