Pet Friendly Airlines & Pet Travel Tips

One major travel holiday has passed and another one is fast approaching.

If you are traveling somewhere for the holidays that is too far to drive, you may be leaning towards leaving your dog with a sitter.

But why not take them with you? While it takes some preparation and costs a bit (maybe less than you think when comparing it to the sitter costs!), your dog is an important part of your family and can make the holidays that much more enjoyable.

We have researched and written an in-depth article that will help you prepare and complete a successful flight with your dog. Here are the highlights...

  • Flying, whether in the cabin with you or in cargo, is completely safe for your dog. You and the airlines are federally regulated which ensures a good trip from start to finish.

  • Certain dogs such as pug-nosed breeds, puppies under 8 weeks and dogs in heat or pregnant cannot fly.

  • Preparation can take some time for your dog’s first flight, but after you’ve done it once it becomes much simpler.

  • There are some important considerations in selecting the right flight, such as finding the ones with the fewest layovers and scheduling arrivals and departures when the outside temperature is the mildest (especially for cargo flights).

  • Finding the lowest fares for you and your dog is a snap online once you know the tricks.

There's a limit per airplane on the number of pets they allow, so get on it before it's too late!
